Our Take

Despite the fact that Cooperstown's status as the place where baseball was invented is disputed, it's an adorable little village. The Hall of Fame and Museum feels very much like hallowed ground. Even if you didn't watch all 18.5 hours of Ken Burns' "Baseball," there's stuff here to appreciate, like the old-school hats that had sunglasses attached to the brim. If you're a fan of "A League of Their Own," you'll be delighted to learn that the exhibit from the film is real and still standing. And, of course, if you have a favorite team or legendary player, you'll find a ton to geek out over. It's wild to see how much baseball has changed over the years, and how it has managed to remain relevant as America's pastime.

“preserving history, honoring excellence, connecting generations”

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is an independent, non-profit educational institution dedicated to fostering an appreciation of the historical development of baseball and its impact on our culture by collecting, preserving, exhibiting and interpreting its collections for a global audience as well as honoring those who have made outstanding contributions to our national pastime. The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum collections feature just under 40,000 three-dimensional items, three million books and documents and 500,000 photographs. The Museum tells visitors the story of baseball through its three-story timeline, with the majestic Plaque Gallery serving as a centerpiece. The museum is supposedly haunted by Ted Williams and was heard saying "persevere, to have courage, to excel and be great".  Other items in the museum may be still connected to deceased players not wanting to give up their favorite pastime.

Great for a day. Cute Main Street as well. Thought the hall of fame was a little over priced but oh well.

Great outing for families who enjoy baseball. You don't have to be a baseball lover to enjoy this stop. A lot of great artifacts and history. The gift shop is a little pricey but they have some cool items.

I like baseball a lot, but I'm not a baseball nut or anything...I still thought this place was so cool and I learned a lot. Maybe parts were a little cheesy but there's a lot of interesting aspects to baseball history that they cover- and yes, that exhibit from A League of Their Own is real!

If you are a baseball fan, put this on your list. Not too expensive for ALL the stuff there is to see. The displays are amazing; so much information and history. It is a very busy place, but just make your way around everybody and eventually you get through. Street parking. Places close buy to eat; lots of merch options in the area. Have a ride through town too because it is a beautiful town.
