“The old one's gone, but the new one remains!”
The old shoe tree had been a legendary stop along the Loneliest Road, US 50, for many years, and when they cut it down people weren't happy. The result? Meet the new shoe tree. It's a tree. You throw your shoes in it.
Plenty of parking and a welcome break from the monotony that is US 50 in Nevada. Bring an extra pair of sneakers or maybe just steal your traveling companion's when they're not looking. Be sure to use caution when entering and exiting the parking area and don't rubberneck, go ahead and pull over and park. Cars on this stretch of the highway tend to really fly.
Great quick stop! Walk around for a few minutes and see the tree from different angles. It’s great with the snow-capped mountains in the background.
So cool! I threw an old pair of Converse on the tree. A rad little stop.
Well, it's the famous shoe tree! Good for a quick stop to look along the route and taking some pictures.
Very cool place! We stopped h
ere after we saw the shoe tree from the road. Nice way to break up the lonely trip. A must see. Better than the petrified forest! Nice wallpaper shot.
Despite the fact that the original "Shoe Tree" was cut down by vandals in 2011, this enormously popular attraction wouldn't die... shoes now cover two trees near where the original stood.
Fun Little stop! Perfect place to stretch the legs and see all the shoes hanging! An extraordinary sight.
Located at mile marker 70.. Hard to miss this big tree in the middle of the desert. It's a nice and fun break from hours on US 50. Good luck getting your shoes to stay in the tree, if you miss, they can join the others piled on the ground!
