“VA's newest state park”

Once owned by Thomas Jefferson and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the 215-foot tall Natural Bridge is a limestone gorge carved out by Cedar Creek. The newest Virginia State Park is more than just the bridge. Beautiful forests, open, rolling meadows showcase the area’s karst terrain, and vistas of surrounding mountains and the James River valley display nature’s splendor. Access these via 6 miles of hiking trails, including the accessible Cedar Creek Trail that leads from the bridge to the Monacan Indian Village and Lace Falls with its 30-foot cascade. Living history programs connect you to the past and cover how people once used the area’s resources for survival and inspiration. Start at the visitor center where you will find exhibits and a gift shop. A shuttle from the visitor center to the bridge trail is available for those not wishing to take the stairs. Admission per person is $6 for ages 6-12 and $8 for those 13 and older.

Definitely worth the stop and the 8 bucks! The bridge is breath taking and there is a lot of history. There is a "waterfall" at the end. Unless you really want to see a very disappointing water cascade don't bother but it's a very easy short walk so if you want to stretch your legs go for it but other wise just walk down to the bridge and turn back.

Definitely worth the stop and the eight dollars! It is a 2 mile walk (round trip) and is a great way to stretch your legs after being on the road for a few hours. The bridge is breathtaking, and the sound of the creek is very relaxing. PUP friendly as well!

A very cool stop - the walk is beautiful and the arch is impressive to all ages. Easy stroll - great detour and we spent about 2 hrs here. You could spend less time but it’s just so beautiful it’s hard to rush it. Also great spot for picnic lunch.

Very quick walk (or ride if you choose) 8 dollars per adult and while someone does check your "ticket" before you get to the bride it is worth it. A quick stop for an awesome view. Great for pictures and a leg stretch.

Drove up with our 32’ RV and there was RV parking to the left. You have the option to pay at the main white house or at the base of the stairs down. It is not wheelchair accessible from the top though the park may grant you access to drive down. The falls along the stairs down are lovely and moss covered calcium deposits. The stairs are a workout so be prepared on your way back up! The bridge is to the right of the base of the stairs and is impressive to say the least. You can tell everyone is awestruck based on how slow moving we all are as we gaze up and around in all directions. The path continues down past the bridge and on to a formal falls area. There’s also a cavern which is accessible elsewhere and has its own fee or you can buy a reduced rate combo ticket. My 2 and 3 yr old were completely unimpressed and more interested in the fish bedding in the creek.

Four stars out of five bc the directions for access and check in weren’t intuitive at all. Also the entry to the stairs is on the side of the building which is quite unattractive for the majestic history of this landmark. The way-finding is literally laminated paper markers.

Still even with my obstinate toddlers, it was a jaw dropping stop. Worth returning to!

Great place to stop and stretch. The native village was so fun and educational for the little ones.
