“where the US was born”
Both the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution were signed in this historic building.
Go early to the visitor's center to get your ticket for free, or you can pay a tiny fee of $1.50 for the convenience of buying one online. The tickets are timed and you have to go through security so plan accordingly. In the evening the tours are self guided, but I think it was worth it to have a guide explain things. And don't even think about re-enacting National Treasure!!
This tour is pretty basic. You get to see inside the Hall where the Constitutional Convention was and where the Declaration was signed. The guides are knowledgeable if not a little dry. Tickets are free, but you do need one. If you're in a rush plan ahead and buy them online, otherwise you might get stuck waiting around for an hour or more for your tour time. *There are plenty of other things to see around the block while you're waiting*
Loved it.. Even though it is mostly replicas inside, it looks like the picture you see. Tour guide was awesome.
Very good, informative tour of an important place in US history. You can be in "the room where it happened"!
Great history but a short tour. They just showed the court room and the assembly room. Still great to see. There is the congress hall inside the same compound that is also free.
Get tickets early for the Hall tour. They go quickly.
Awesome.
Not as kept up as other historical places. The narrator was excellent however.
If you don't have a ticket, you can still go through security and wait with the ticket holders in the lawn area. If the have enough room, the guides will let you enter Independence Hall for the tour, too.
Stop at the visitor center for your free ticket to the Independence hall tour. Then you can walk around to see the liberty bell and other sites before your tour. Go a little early because you may be able to take an earlier tour. Sometimes the rangers have extra tickets to trade times. If you love history this is a great stop. My daughters loved it. The Rangers were knowledgable and asked the kids great questions to get them engaged.
Very nice historical site!
