“Best view of the river + arch”
The Gateway Arch reflects St. Louis' role in the Westward Expansion of the United States during the nineteenth century. The park is a memorial to Thomas Jefferson's role in opening the West, to the pioneers who helped shape its history, and to Dred Scott who sued for his freedom in the Old Courthouse.
This address takes you through construction currently (August 2014). It was a beautiful area. There is a parking garage specifically for the arch, so make sure you park there! We didn't realize that, so we had a far walk. None the less, it was a gorgeous stop on our road trip. Dogs are obviously allowed in the area, but not in the visitor's center. The picture for this attraction also isn't correct currently. This pond is drained, I'm assuming due to the construction, unfortunately.
Theeee place to go to view the arch. No one was there. Plenty of free parking. Clean bathrooms. Overlook of the Mississippi River.
This is under total construction right now and so there is only the monument and cruises. This is temporary and will be such a beautiful addition to enjoy when completed.
